In this video, we bring you the latest updates from the 22nd General Assembly of Caritas Internationalis, which took place in Rome. The assembly marked a significant turning point for the Vatican's preeminent charity following a tumultuous period.

Archbishop Tarcisio Isao Kikuchi of Tokyo was elected as the new President of Caritas, bringing fresh leadership to the organization. Additionally, Alistair Dutton was named the new Secretary General, and he joins us from Rome to share his insights on the assembly.

During the assembly, Caritas members gathered after four years, with a renewed sense of unity and goodwill. They had the privilege of an audience with Pope Francis, setting a tone of camaraderie and dedication to their mission. The assembly focused on setting priorities for the next four years and electing new officers.

Alistair Dutton, the newly elected Secretary General, expresses his honor and excitement in assuming this role. With almost three decades of experience within Caritas, he considers it his home and family. His primary goal is to foster a sense of unity within the Caritas family and work collaboratively to address the most pressing global issues. He aims to strengthen Caritas' position as one of the most effective development networks worldwide.
